Make him work Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith The disciples one time asked Jesus to increase their faith in response to him revealing that forgiveness was due to all who repented. They thought this to be too difficult a task and associated it with having some great faith in order to operate this way. Jesus’s response was just too good. Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed… In his response Jesus didn’t change the topic as most people seem to think he did, instead he revealed something to us about the mechanics of faith and the amount of faith required to do any job! Firstly we have to understand that as the author of faith, Jesus knows how to operate faith better than we may think. He knows everything there is to know about faith and its ways. Secondly we need to understand that there is no other faith apart from Papa God’s faith, what I mean is that any faith we have we have ever received or have is only of God Himself. He is the giver of all good things, and faith is one of the gifts He has given to us (Ephesians 2:8, Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 2:20). The ability to believe God (faith) came with our new hearts the moment we were reborn out of the Adamic race into Christ Himself (Ezekiel 36:26). As new creations we have Jesus’ ability freely given to us in our new hearts to believe what God says. It is the very function of the new heart in us. Now back to Jesus’ response to his disciples request for increased faith, from Luke 17:6-10; “And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow (think) not, so likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, we are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do” Do you see this beloved? Jesus reveals here that faith is a servant that after he has done what he has been commanded to do, has just done his duty and nothing else. In other words the servant of faith is hardwired for labour and must be fully utilised to deliver that which God has granted you. Faith is the servant that brings the meal to you which God has freely given you. You get from God what He has freely given you by using the servant of faith to get it to you. Faith is the hand that takes from the table what God has freely given to us through the door of Jesus! 2 Corinthians 4:13 … having the same spirit of faith …. we believe, and speak Now we see the mechanics of how to command that servant (faith) to work for us? The scriptures reveal what Papa God has freely given to us so we speak as if we already have it before we see its manifested form (Romans 4:17) and tell every contrary thing (mountain) to get out of our way (Mark 11:23), so that we enjoy the benefits of what the servant delivers to us, as we work him fully and unapologetically on a constant on-going basis.
