Makeup Tip-Bit of the week: How to Properly Apply Nail Polish: TAKE YOUR TIME! Its not a race. 1) Be sure your nails are clean and have no old nail polish on them. Nail polish does not stick or dry properly on wet nails. 2) Apply polish in two thin coats, instead of one thick one. Thick coats will peel off. Swipe both sides of the brush on the opening of the bottle to remove excess polish. Use long strokes starting at the cuticle and ending at the tip of your nail. Paint each nail using three brush strokes, the first one starting at the center of the nail, followed by a brushstroke on the left side and then on the right side. Overlap each brushstroke to spread the polish evenly. Allow nails to completely dry before applying the next coat. 3) Remove and nail polish that gets on your skin. Dip a cotton swab into your nail polish remover and carefully remove the polish on your skin. 4)Apply a coat of clear nail polish over your coloured nails to protect it from chipping. Be sure your coloured polish is completely dry before applying the clear polish. For best result use a clear polish that is labeled Top Coat. Apply the top coat using the same techniques used to apply your coloured nail polish. Paint one layer of topcoat on the accessible areas of the underneath side of your nails, to strengthen your nails against breakage.
