Making Our Neighborhoods Safer Chattanooga firefighters once - TopicsExpress

Making Our Neighborhoods Safer Chattanooga firefighters once again hit the streets today for another Knock and Walk event. Thats what theyre calling the event so far in which they walk through a neighborhood and knock on doors, offering free fire safety information, smoke alarms and batteries. If no one is home, theyll leave a door hanger on the door knob, which has basic fire safety information on it. Today, they visited homes on Foust Street. Last Tuesday, fire caused substantial damage to a home at 1802 Foust Street. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the fire displaced a family of five. Our Fire Prevention personnel were joined by firefighters with Engine 9 (Red Shift), and two officers with the Chattanooga Police Department: Lt. Barry Burns and Officer Terry Barnes. Together, they visited 16 houses on Foust Street, talking face to face with nine residents and installing four smoke alarms. During the event, the crew with Station 9 got a call that they had to respond to, which is why they werent there for the final group photo. Great job by all involved! #inthecommunity
