Making Progress In earlier posts, we have talked about the issue of our Hamp II ditch entraining, or trapping native and sport fish in the ditch and not being able to escape. Yesterday, work began on completing a project to install a fish screen on the headgate to prevent this from happening in future years. We will have a more detailed post upon completion, but wanted to let all folks involved/interested in the project know that significant progress was made yesterday and today. A coffer dam was built and the site dewatered. The trench was dug and a base of gravel laid. The headgate box was installed and bolted along with the base for the cone screen. Two pilings were driven to secure the structure. Work remains to complete, but we are hopeful it will be fully installed and working by the end of the week. Stay tuned for a post later this week on the final project.
