Making my way through this Holiday Season so far has been at the very least challenging. Some days I feel as if Im in a daze. They say time heals all wounds except I keep pulling the bandage off and there it is exposed again. This morning like every Saturday for twenty some years I pour my coffee and go sit at the coffee table, just me and my thoughts, but what I hear in my head is Mark yelling down from his bedroom is Hey Neal, what are you doing? What do you want to do today? Next thing I would know, hed come bounding down the stairs, fully dressed raring to go, Lets take Scheeva on a walk!. Id respond Mark, I just got up, you go ahead and take her. That was a Saturday morning ritual played over and over again, week after week, month after month, year after year. Some things Ill just never be able to get out of my head. They are comfortable and familiar feelings that just seemed natural. For that reason I light a candle in front of Marks picture every day, just so I wont forget the little things. So, this brings me to the song that Ive posted, although its not a Holiday song, it feels like one to me. At least for my Holidays. Not only is it one of my favorite ever, this cover version by K.D. Lang might be the best cover version ever in my humble opinion. Never, ever, ever take the little things for granted, Those little moments that can never be again might seem so ordinary at the time but, as I can tell you, you just never know when all that can change in the blink of an eye. 27 years can all of a sudden start to fade, to seem like a dream. So, hang on to every good thing you have with the ones you love, cherish the fact that their are just sitting beside you. Life is a very strange, mysterious fleeting thing that you can not take for granted. Please count your blessings and surround yourself by the people you love as often as you can and when you can, tell them, I Love You. :-) Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
