Malaika Mahlatsi Degree or no degree, Dr Pallo Jordan is one of the most astute intellectuals this country has. That old man is a walking anti-thesis to philistinism. His capacity to reason, the courage he has to defend and articulate his convictions, the knowledge he has produced and architected, his contributions to the struggle, post 1994 and in this democratic dispensations, is unmatched. If were suddenly going to neglect all of this because he allegedly has no piece of paper, then were a nation of mindless people who dont deserve to be taken seriously. The idea that a persons intellectual depth is measured by a piece of paper is the most mindless and most vulgar idea there is. In fact, judging my the dismal calibre of PhD holders in this country, I think it is highly insulting to his exceptional mind to call that old man Dr Jordan. Hes way ahead, far ahead, of most of these mindless and lazy post-mortemist intellectuals of our time. Tsek! #If even Pallo Jordaan is not a product of formal education, then formal education is under siege!#. That awkward moment when you realise that the best mechanic in town is doesnt have a formal qualification, but then he remains the best in town. Lol
