I keep seeing everyone saying Honourable Minister Nomvula Mokonyane said We will fight for Zuma with our bums. Initially I thought maMokonyane is a reckless person who speaks without thinking, until I actually followed up the story and it turns out that what she actually said is: Re ka loana ntoa ea libono (or Re ka lwana ntwa ya dibono). This popular Sesotho phrase does NOT mean We will use our bums. It means We will fight a battle of all battles or We will fight to the bitter end. The vulgarisation of our language(s) must stop. We the Sesotho speaking people use this phrase all the time. Its a figure of speech or what we call seane. As a matter of fact, journalists must stop with this problematic tendency of Anglosising our native languages. This cultural minoritisation that is being advanced through the vulgarisation of our languages and traditions cannot continue.
