Mama Lanas Nightly Meal Monday 29th December It was a really cheerful atmosphere under the bridge tonight, with around 40 patrons in terrific spirits. They enjoyed a choice of curried chicken and rice, or plain chicken and rice (thanks Mama Lana!), a mix of sandwiches, trifle and custard (thanks Sharyn for both!) or fruit salad and custard (thanks Suzi!), and the ever-popular donuts (thanks Donut King Emu Plains!).The usual beverages were on hand to quench the thirst of the humid evening, and everyone flocked around the Vinnies Van for hot drinks after their meals. While a few patrons left soon after their meals, there seemed to be a large number just sitting around chatting amicably, having a laugh, and enjoying each others company. It was a really nice evening just to wander around, catch up with patrons, and make sure everyone was okay. Library was busy tonight with our regulars browsing many new titles recently donated by some special book fairies (you know who you are :) ) and we discussed music, photography, and Egyptian history and mythology thanks to some stunning coffee table books now in the collection. We would still love donations of any Westerns you may find hiding in your shelves please - one patrons adores them but they are quite hard to come by! At the very end of the night, as packing up was almost completed, a young man arrived looking for assistance with accommodation. After several phone calls, unfortunately the usual avenues proved fruitless due the busyness of the season so it was Super Mr Origami J to the rescue! He generously offered our new patron to stay at his place tonight instead of sleeping on the street. Thank you Mr OJ!
