Mama Lanas Nightly Meal Service Monday Jan 26th The van pulled up, the tables and chairs were assembled and within minutes 22 pizzas, multiple sandwiches and a selection of desserts were gone! Despite the cool rainy weather, around 70 patrons plus multiple children were in attendance tonight. Thank you to Sharyn for the sandwiches and fruit and custard desserts, and also to Bec Gray for the wagon wheels slice and scones desserts. The mood was pretty calm and happy, and people were glad for the change in weather. The hot weekend had been quite difficult for many, so the respite was welcome. Once the Vinnies Van arrived most people took their hot beverages and dispersed but we had a few people stick around for a chat. The library was in full swing and we had heaps of books borrowed or returned, as well as just read while patrons ate. We brought a selection of childrens books which were extremely popular with so many littlies who were thrilled to borrow them for the week. Lana and Tracy were able to assist a family urgently in need of a food hamper. One family member had walked quite a distance to reach us but we were able to deliver a meal to their home tonight along with other essentials. Thats it for tonight.
