Mama and babies need your help!!! Meet Astrid! This severely emaciated and sick dog, along with four of her puppies were found starving to death in the corner of a local laundromat. Even though Astrid was near death, she continued to do her best to feed her babies. All puppies and mama dog have been rescued by Lafayette Animal Aid and are requiring expensive medical care. Astrid is severely emaciated, severely anemic, malnourished, and is battling with heartworms that are compromising her heart and lungs. Astrid fought desperately hard to hang on so that she could give what she could to keep her puppies alive. All four puppies were severely dehydrated, anemic, malnourished and required emergency care. Astrid and her babies are currently in foster homes and are receiving very costly medical care. Astrid faces a long journey ahead to recovery. Please help with these medical expenses so that Astrid and her babies can continue to receive the care they need. The staff at LAA are amazed at the love that this mama dog demonstrated to her young despite her own near death struggle, and have named her Astrid – divine strength.
