Mamata Imposes Virtual State of Emergency in Trouble Torn Birbhum - TopicsExpress

Mamata Imposes Virtual State of Emergency in Trouble Torn Birbhum District of West Bengal. Armed clashes started in West Bengal more than a week ago. The clashes were between TMC workers & BJP workers, apparently because of mass migration of TMC supporters to BJP. The clashes first started in Chowmandalpur, & 2 days later to Makra village where prohibitory orders were already in force. 3 people died in Makra village. Since then that area has been virtually cut off from the rest of the world. There is heavy police presence & Section 144 in place. Mamata Bannerjee first prevented the CPM delegation from entering the area. Two days ago it prevented a BJP fact finding team led by its Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi from entering the area. Police arrested the members & forcibly removed them from the scene. Today, a Congress delegation led by its State President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry was also prevented from visiting the area. It is obvious that Mamata is hiding something from the rest of the country. She is oblivious to the problems the people of the affected area are facing. Isnt it time for all political parties to come together & force Mamtas hand ? In case she does not relent, there is a constitutional provision to remove her. The case against her is stronger because she is virtually presiding over terror factories in West Bengal.
