Mamnoon Hussain was elected with an overwhelming majority in the July 30th Presidential elections as PML-N nominee. The seventy-three years old Mamnoon Hussain is a businessman turned politician. He studied at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi. Mamnoon Hussain remained Governor of Sindh from 19th June‚ 1999 to 12th October 1999. ==== Meanwhile‚ in an interview‚ President-elect Mamnoon Hussain has said he will take constitutional position to maintain good and friendly relations between the federation and the provinces. He said the government is serious to resolve the challenges being faced by the country and he will make utmost efforts to bring close all federating units for this purpose. Mamnoon Hussain said law and order in the country particularly in Karachi is major challenge for the government. However‚ he expressed the confidence that the government will succeed to cope with the challenge and bring peace in the country which is vital for socio-economic growth. On Balochistan‚ the president-elect said it is good omen that nationalist parties are not only in the provincial assembly but they are leading the government in the province hoping that it will lead to resolve the issues being faced by Balochistan. He said although the government has taken various measures to improve electricity generation but there is still need to work on war footing to bridge the demand and supply gap. He said Karachi‚ which is hub of national economic activities‚ was ignored in the past. However‚ he hoped the present government will fully concentrate for the development of Karachi.
