Man, 75, murders 70-yr-old wife in Tamil Nadu VILLUPURAM: A 75-year old man murdered his wife, 70, by slitting her throat, in Tamil Nadus Villupuram district on Monday. Police said that P Kuppusamy, a former farmhand from Thimmapuram village near Chinna Salem, and his wife K Patchaiammal had been living together after their five sons and a daughter had shifted elsewhere. Chinna Salem inspector V Tamilvanan said the couple had not been on talking terms for the past ten years. He said his wife turned indifferent after he stopped working about a decade ago due to advancing age. They used to quarrel frequently over petty issues. Kuppusamy alleged his wife had been neglecting him. He had told his neighbours and relatives his wife had stopped serving him food and giving him the money she received from their sons. She used to travel frequently to visit their sons without informing him. On the Navaratra festival day, he bought items for the puja and requested his wife to perform the puja. Though Patchaiammal performed the puja, she neither invited him for the ritual nor offered him the prasad and this infuriated him. Police said the former farm worker then decided to kill his wife. Around 3am on Monday, he slit her throat while she was sleeping. Chinna Salem police registered a case and arrested Kuppusamy. They produced him before the Sankarapuram judicial magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
