Man and demons Luke 9:39 - And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. Just a couple of days back I was discussing with my daughter about the festival that is going on in India where they bring idols of their elephant god for a few days and take it in procession to drown it in a sea. My daughter asked why they drown it if they are giving reverence to it. I told her if they had not drowned it then this ritual would die within a couple of years, unless they do not dispose it they cannot celebrate it in that same pomp the next year, this happens every year and they remain the same. They go to temples ring bells, do arties (Hindu worship), give money, have prasad (food offered to idols) and their ritual is done. This ritual does not change them nor convict them of their sinful life. They feel by dong this they can continue their way of life and come back to do the same ritual all over again. It is these rituals that keep their religion alive. Then she asked me one deep question do they not fear God? I realized even devils (evil spirits) know God and fear Him, but man who is ignorant of God mocks Him fearlessly. Most of these people are well educated and sensible, they do not need to be told what they worship is not God but out of fear of breaking traditions and offending the society they live in they are willing to go against God. If only they knew what awaits them they would not do these things, like it is said where Angels do not dare fools do. They do not know there are 2 deaths a person would go through; one is the natural death and the second death of the spirit. God has given life and what He gives He does not take back. Bible says our days on earth are known to Him so our coming here and our going out are known to Him. When we die we just exit this creation but our spirit does not die. Our death in this world is quick so many do not fear death here but the death of the spirit does not mean the spirit just stops to exist. God has given the spirit of man some thousands of years to exist so when he exits this creation his spirit has to go someplace and exist there till that spirit finishes its remaining period. God created Hell (a prison) for the spirits of those who hate Him. Here the spirit is confined to isolation for the rest of its existence. For those who love Him God created Grave where the spirit sleeps till the time all His people pass through this world (they are numbered) and unto Judgement Day. The difference between being in Hell and in Grave is that in Hell the sins of the person are like coals of fire that never extinguish or like live worms that never die, so ever sin that spirit has committed as man here on earth will torture that person till the rest of its existence in Hell. While the spirits that exist in the spiritual level called Grave (not earthly graves) sleep in peace, since they died believing in Christ they did not go to hell and their sins do not suffer them. But on Judgment Day they will rise and will be judged alone with those dwelling on earth (these will be transformed - exit their earthly bodies) and those who found not abided in the Word will go to a place worse than Hell, there their sins will not suffer them but irrespective of how much good or bad they were they will all receive the same punishment which is very terrible as to how it is symbolized. Those who are found abided in the Word will enter Heaven and have access to the Tree of Life so as to live eternally (they will eat of it as and when they need it). The evil spirit do not have hope, they know what awaits them for they too will receive their punishment when mankind (those who believe in God) are judged. But man has hope for Jesus Christ has become its hope. In Hinduism, Islam and other religions evil spirits are a part of their belief. If a person is processed with an evil spirit and starts to manifest the Hindus would say mata aayi which means spirit of the mother (goddesses) has come on that person. Many would then worship that person because of that spirit, but if the manifestation goes out of hand and starts to harm that person then they try to free that person from that spirit and try to get that person healed. In Islam they are called jinns and they are said help people to get to Paradise quickly. Muhammad their prophet suffered from it after his encounter with a spirit in the Hira caves (a Catholic monk told him it was the angel Gabriel and he was declared prophet by this monk) and would manifest when he would get his inspired ayahs. But when it went out of hand his people realized it was a problem and did not let him record his ayahs for about 2 to 3 years. The Bible gives a clear picture of the evil spirits and its ability and intentions therefore man having knowledge of this will not fear, but take authority and set free those affected by it. [Prayer Starter] Lord, we thank You that You considered this little creature called man and set him to have the power and ability of the Angels. You gave him power to overcome evil spirits, sin and death. You stated he would crush the head of Satan in the end and what You say has to come to pass. We thank You lord for the victory You have made possible for us. We pray the truth stays seated in our hearts and minds for ever... This prayer we make in Jesus Name, Amen. [Reference Scriptures] James 2:19 - Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 1 Peter 3:19 - By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Revelation 11:17-18 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth [nations]. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
