Man attacked at a Winson Green petrol station after he refused to give someone a lift. The man, aged 44, started to fill his van up at the Tesco petrol station on Spring Hill in Winson Green, when he is approached by a man, who asked for a lift to Erdington. The driver refused and went into the kiosk to pay for his petrol; as he did so, the man got into his vehicle and tried to drive away. He spotted the man trying to do this and ran outside to stop him and pull him out the van. The offender then repeatedly punched and kicked the man, before walking off and then coming back and assaulting him again. The man suffered broken ribs and cuts to his head during the unprovoked attack at around 6:40AM on Saturday 8th November. Detective Constable Omar Sharif from the WMP Violent Crime Team, said: This is an unprovoked attack on a member of the public trying to go about his daily business. He has been repeatedly punched and kicked leaving him with broken ribs. The assault is so severe, the hose is nearly pulled out of the petrol tank.
