Man charged after allegedly threatening police with a knife- Nowra A man will face court tomorrow (Monday 22 July 2013) after allegedly threatening police with a knife. About 9.45pm Friday 19 July 2013 police from the Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended Quickmatch Street, Nowra following a report of a man armed with a knife threatening people. Upon arrival police were confronted with a naked male armed with a knife. Police will allege a 29-year-old Nowra man has approached a police vehicle which had two police officers inside and stabbed the knife into the passenger’s side window whilst attempting to open the door. The man has approached another police vehicle then allegedly commenced to punch on the roof and also stab the passenger’s side window. The police officer from this vehicle has got out and was approached by the man who allegedly threatened the police officer with a knife. The man was challenged by the police officer who had withdrawn his firearm. It is then alleged that the man threw the knife towards the police officer, which narrowly missed his head. Police have then required to deploy a taser and arrested the man. The man was conveyed to Shoalhaven District Hospital where he was treated for a minor injury. He was then taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with Armed with intent to commit indictable offence x 2, Assault police in execution of duty x 2, Affray, Damage property and Custody of knife in public place. The man was bail refused and will appear at Nowra Local Court tomorrow.
