Man charged over alleged home invasion - Kempsey Friday, 21 June 2013 10:20:06 AM A man has been charged following a home invasion at South Kempsey on the Mid North Coast earlier in the week. About 6:30pm, Wednesday 19 June 2013, two men allegedly attended a house in Queen Street while armed with a firearm and an axe. Police will allege the pair threatened the occupants, aged 15 and 19, and demanded money before searching the house but leaving empty-handed. About 4:45pm yesterday (Thursday 20 June 2013), a 19-year-old man was arrested after police stopped a silver Mitsubishi Magna in Bloomfield Street, South Kempsey. Police will allege the Mitsubishi had fled the West Kempsey area following a brawl where a machete, sticks and tyre irons were used. The man was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with special aggravated enter dwelling with intent, enter building with firearm, possess shortened firearm, armed with intent to commit indictable offence and affray. He was refused bail to appear in Macksville Local Court today (Friday 21 June 2013). Police are continuing their investigations into the brawl and are also attempting to locate the second man allegedly involved in the home invasion.
