Man cleared of arson charge A SAUDI has been cleared of arson after judges learned that he was arrested an hour after tyres were burnt. The 24-year-old was acquitted of arson and taking part in an illegal gathering in Muharraq by the High Criminal Court yesterday. He was accused of being among a group of masked men who burned tyres near a petrol station on January 17. "It is not possible that the defendant will set the tyres on fire and then wait there for an hour until the police arrest him," said the court verdict. The defendant had pleaded not guilty and said he was simply in the area to get his car fixed, although police said he tried to escape arrest.
