Nevertheless here is a profile of Shri Hayagriba Tripathy, especially for those less acquainted with him: Sri Hayagriba Tripathy, born October 06, 1936, Harikrishnapur Sashan (Near Sheragada in Ganjam Dist), Orissa. Currently in the editorial board of Anupam Bharat, he is often referred as the Grand Old man of Orissa Education (Shikhaka Pitamaha). Education BA from Khallikote College, Berhampur. MA in English and History from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. B Ed from Radhanath Training College Centre, Cuttack Career After completing College education his first job was as the School Inspector of Mathili Block in Malkangiri Dist, Orissa. After a short stint as a teacher of Mahatma Gandhi High School, Sheragada, he settled down for his longest educational innings i.e as the Principal of Ghumusar Technical High School, Bellaguntha from 1962 to 1995. He served as the District Co-ordinator of Bhanja Sakharata Parishad from 1995 to 1998. He was the pioneer of Anandmaya Shikha in Ganjam District and under his leadership Ganjam Dist had the distinction standing first in implementation of UNICEF projects in Orissa. Since 1998 he is working as an educational consultant to UNICEF. He is one of the founder editors of Oriya Daily ‘ Anupam Bharat’ where he has two regular popular columns – Digdarshan and Ajira Anuchinta. Social Service His whole life has been dedicated to bringing about qualitative change in the society. This urge to serve the humanity is reflected both in his professional life as well as his efforts outside his professional life. Since 1991 he has been associated with various social projects at local national and international level. He spearheaded the campaign for ‘Anandmaya Shiksha’ (Joyful Learning) in villages of Ganjam District. Due to his able leadership teachers and volunteers have been mobilised to campaign and bring about cleanliness and hygiene in rural areas and awareness about taking care of the girl child. He is tirelessly propagating these and other socially uplifting messages through public talks and writings. His weekly column ‘Ajira Anuchinta’ in the Orya Daily ‘ Anupam Bharat’ carries thought provoking and strong social messages for social reforms. Spiritual Leanings His spiritual leanings have been evident since a very young age. In addition to academic excellence he mastered our ancient scriptures. In 1957 he went to Chitrakoot to quench his spiritual thirst. Since then he has travelled far and wide to awaken spiritual villages through his discourses on Rama Charita Manas. He has also given talks on spiritual topics on numerous occasions in local TV and Radio. His daily popular column ‘Digdarshan’ in Anupam Bharat provides insights on various spiritual topics. Personal Traits In addition to being a gifted writer he is an enchanting orator with mass appeal. His speech makes every one spell bound, whether young or old, a city bred intellectual or a simple villager. In spite of academic excellence with deep spiritual knowledge, he remains a simple and soft spoken individual, who could be your everyday neighbour. One can feel an instant increase in ones’ enthusiasm level when he is around. He is an outstanding leader who can get jobs done merely be his presence. Notably he keeps on utilisig all his abilities for the welfare of the humanity. Honours Received the Governor’s award for excellence in teaching in 1990. Title of ‘Shikshak Pitamah’ conferred by ‘Ghumusur Sambad’ in 2002.
