Man loses finger following assault - Shalvey Saturday, 20 December 2014 04:58:56 AM Police are conducting investigations after a man had a finger severed during an assault at a house in Shalvey this morning. About 1:50am (Saturday 20 December 2014), police and paramedics were called to a house on Stolle Street following reports a man had been assaulted. It is believed the 44-year-old man heard noises in the backyard of the home when he went to investigate and was attacked by two males. During the incident the man was struck with an unknown weapon before the males fled on bicycles. The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital with a severed finger and partially severed finger. A crime scene was established at the house and examined by specialist forensic officers with police conducting a canvas of the neighbourhood. Detectives from Mt Druitt Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the assault and are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.
