Man pumps handpump, Langur jumps in and drinks! Wilderness Films India editor and field production-person Varun heads to a hand-pump for a drink of water and as soon as he pumps out water, along comes a langur and shockingly drinks from it, displaying an enormous amount of confidence! This little drama took place at Ranthambhor National Park earlier this week, while our wildfilmsindia crew were out on assignment for an education funding programme. Parched in the autumn heat of Rajasthan - Indias desert state - the simian had earlier tried to pump out water, but failed on many an occasion. He knew that the pump was activated by hand cranking the lever, as he had seen many humans doing so before him. Learned behaviour of an advanced kind! However, the poor chap was just not heavy or strong enough to pump, even after utilizing the maximum torque available through the lengthy lever!
