Man-size toolbox is stolen from Telford garage Thousands of pounds worth of tools stored in a giant box have been stolen from a garage in Telford. Police today appealed for witnesses who might have seen the toolbox being taken from a garage in Brookside. Officers said the thieves must have had a vehicle to take the box, and tools worth between £6,000 and £8,000, away from the property in Burford as it was six foot tall and three foot wide. Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said the orange West Coast Chopper special edition toolbox was one of only 500 made. He said: “It was full of hand tools used by a mechanic, including makes like Snap-On, Britool and Facom. The stolen tool box is almost 6ft by 3ft, so the thieves would have had to have left the garage via the main up and over door before making their escape. “Officers investigating this theft also believe the thieves must have had a vehicle parked nearby as you would need one to transport the tool box any distance and would also need more than one person to lift it off the ground. “Officers are also hopeful someone may have seen the thieves with the toolbox after stealing it, or may have seen the thieves loading the stolen item into their vehicle.” Details of the break-in were released by Telford police today. Officers say it happened at an address in Burford sometime between 4pm and 4.40pm on June 14. In that very short timescale, while the occupants were in the process of moving out, thieves got into the garage and stole the toolbox. Mr Ammonds said the main garage door could only be opened from the inside so it seems likely the thieves accessed the garage through the back garden before going in through the back door. Anyone who thinks they might have information that is linked to this incident, especially anyone who believes they might have seen a vehicle that could be involved, is asked to contact officers in Telford on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously, quoting incident number 496S 170613, on 0800 555111
