Management of plastic is one of Indias greatest environmental issues and on Barefoots campus there are about 600 plastic water bottles consumed by visitors every month. So when german engineer, Yannis showed up two months ago he was hell-bent on solving the plastic water bottle problem. His method: using barefoots Parabolic Solar Cooker to melt the shredded bottles in a mixture of sand and cooking oil so we can then up-cycle & mould it into something useful, like a vase. The whole Solar Cooking Engineer Team showed up as well as several other campus members. Here are pictures of experiment #1.
