Manchester United given reason to be optimistic about signing Marco Reus Marco Reus has refused to confirm whether he has signed a new deal with Borussia Dortmund for reasons he did not wish to disclose, Sky Sports has reported. The 24-year-old’s current contract expires in two years but has a well documented €35 million release clause which Dortmund are keen to get rid of in a new deal that would see Reus get a significant wage increase. However, despite insisting how good he is feeling at Dortmund, Reus has refused to confirm reports about his new contract. “I’m not saying anything about my contract,” Reus told Bild. “But I do have the time to emphasise how good I feel at Dortmund.” Why would Reus not confirm reports he is going to sign a new contract if there wasn’t a reason behind it? Dortmund may be offering terms that Reus doesn’t agree with or he may simply want to consider his options for a bit longer before committing his future to Dortmund. Either way, for Manchester United fans who want to see Reus move to Old Trafford, this is certainly a reason to be optimistic. Of course, given United’s recent track record with transfers, that optimism probably means a new deal with Reus will be announced by Friday.
