Manchester United have made Bayern Munich star Bastian - TopicsExpress

Manchester United have made Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger their back-up option if a third and final bid for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas fails this week. United will bid £35m plus £5m in add-ons for Fabregas, with Schweinsteiger waiting in the wings if Barca refuse to do business, the Sunday Mirror reports. David Moyes’ side will resume their interest in Fabregas heartened by the latest noises coming from the Catalan side, which indicated that they would be prepared to sell if the player wants to leave. If the 26-year-old opts to stay at Camp Nou, United will turn their attention to Schweinsteiger. The 29-year-old is among a multitude of midfielders at the European champions’ disposal, and reports suggest he might be one of those least able to fit into Pep Guardiola’s new plans for Bayern. Despite Schweinsteiger being named German Football of the Year last week, he faces a struggle to hold down a regular place in Guardiola’s team this season. That could persuade the Bavarian giants to sell for around £25m. #avinash
