Manchester United tonight confirmed the signing of Argentina World - TopicsExpress

Manchester United tonight confirmed the signing of Argentina World Cup star Marcos Rojo for £16million. United announced that a deal had been reached with Sporting Lisbon to sign the defender, who can play at left-back or as a left-sided centre-back. Rojo, who arrived in Manchester by private jet last night ahead of a medical today, will become only United’s third signing this summer after Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. As reported by Mirror Sport today, out of favour United winger Nani will head the other way to former club Sporting on a season-long loan as part of the deal. The club released a statement which read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign defender Marcos Rojo, subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms. “A further announcement will be made when the process is complete.” United’s pursuit of Rojo had been complicated by third party ownership issues surrounding the player, with more than one group having retained a controlling interest in his registration. mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-confirm-marcos-rojo-4076345#ixzz3Av8ZHgsU Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
