Manchester United’s 20th Premier League trophy is about to embark on a global tour. The Old Trafford club have announced the historic piece of silverware will be displayed in a series of major cities around the world, beginning in Rio de Janeiro at the end of the month and ending in Basel in Switzerland in March next year. Sir Alex Ferguson ended his 26-year tenure at United by bettering the club’s record 19 top-flight haul with one more title last May. A statement on United’s website read: ‘Over five months, the Barclays Premier League trophy will travel 67,000 miles, to 24 countries and more than 30 cities.’ United have yet to confirm the exact dates but have posted this list of the destinations: October Rio de Janeiro (BRAZIL) November Sao Paulo (BRAZIL), Santiago (CHILE) Guayaquil (ECUADOR), Mexico City (MEXICO) December Singapore (SINGAPORE), Ho Chi Minh City (VIETNAM), Jakarta (INDONESIA), Taipei (TAIWAN), Seoul (SOUTH KOREA), Shanghai (CHINA), Hong Kong (HONG KONG) January Delhi, Mumbai (INDIA), Dubai (UAE), Riyadh (SAUDI ARABIA), Doha (QATAR) February Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York (USA), Bangkok (THAILAND) March Myanmar (BURMA), Kuala Lumpur (MALAYSIA) Tokyo (JAPAN), Moscow (RUSSIA), Istanbul (TURKEY), Copenhagen (DENMARK), Oslo (NORWAY), Basel (SWITZERLAND)
