Manchester United’s net spend of £122m is the second-biggest - TopicsExpress

Manchester United’s net spend of £122m is the second-biggest ever anywhere in the world - beaten only by Real Madrids 2009 splurge, which included the world record £80m fee for Cristiano Ronaldo, a further £56m for Kaka and £30m for Karim Benzema. Now I’ve never seen any problem in club’s splurging cash in the Transfer window to acquire players they absolutely need to improve themselves and be more competitive. One just hopes this will shut every hypocrite out there who believes in the ridiculous notion that ‘Money doesn’t bring trophies, Talent does.’ Sadly talent isn’t acquired in exchange of bed pans and soup. Money has to be spent to acquire them. I’ve really enjoyed this transfer window as it’s shattered all the hypocrisy of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal fans. Liverpool spent £133.75m, Manchester United £149m, Chelsea £88m, Arsenal £77m. You want to be competitive? You need to spend money. If you don’t spend anything on transfers you fade away into obscurity regardless of how much your fans whine about other clubs that do spend. ~Mr. Blue
