Mandies Interactions: On a more serious note today, Id like to share a disclaimer. Everyday I deal with people who point and stare at me because of my hair or tattoos and it doesnt really bother me much. However every once in a while someone will say: I would never let my child do that to herself. Or My mom would slap me if I came home with blue hair. These things bother me because I dont consider my parents to have any influence on the way I look. In fact I was brought up pretty conservatively. The choices Ive made in my appearance are because its how I have chosen to live and process my life. There was not any neglect or lack of responsibility or even lack of effort religiously in the way that my mom raised me that caused me to look this way. It wasnt a ploy to rebel against my parents. Im simply capable of making my own choices and decisions. And its true that my mom and I have not always seen eye to eye on tattoos or how I choose to present myself in certain occasions, but shes pretty much supported me in whatever crazy idea Ive decided to pursue. Thats a lot more than many people could ask from their parents. So I guess what Im saying is if you think I dont look sociably acceptable or that the way I conduct myself in life is not right there is no one to blame but me. I find it disrespectful that anyone would think that because they wouldnt allow their kids to look like me then that makes them a better parent. Or that Someone as freakin awesome as my mom was faulty in teaching me how to be normal and boring. Youre just jealous;)
