Manifesto My motivation to represent Delta South constituency - TopicsExpress

Manifesto My motivation to represent Delta South constituency at the Senate come 2015, derives from an altruistic zeal for service to Nigeria and my community. This enduring keenness for duty is something I developed and nurtured from childhood and has been amply demonstrated by a lifetime of public service. I worked in various spheres of the Nigerian Air Force for 35 years, where I started as an operational pilot. During these years, I held various key positions and acquired a lot of experience in policy making, representation and strategic security matters. As it is widely accepted, the military in general is the foremost institution in the world with the aptitude to manage men and material. This background, nurtured by my natural instincts, stands me in good stead to deliver on the manifesto hereby given. I ardently have faith in Nigeria and its potentials to rank as one of the world’s pre-eminent states capable of becoming one of its greatest nations. I believe that to achieve this, all component units must be galvanized and aligned towards this common goal. Delta State is rich not just in natural resources, but boast of the best brains in the country. To harness the huge capabilities of this region, there need to be a total emancipation of the mindset. The youths, the women and all have to be carried along in economic decisions that affect their lives and future. Young Deltans need to be molded into visionary leaders and given the opportunity to truly express themselves. Human capital development and skill acquisition are therefore critical to attitudinal liberation so that these possibilities can be effectively exploited. I stand for sustainable development and equitable economic empowerment in Delta South Senatorial. Therefore, my constituency programmes will be geared towards emancipation of the people through quality education, good and affordable healthcare, youth empowerment, job creation, peace building, affirmative action to ensure greater economic participation of women across all age groups and a robust presence of women in public offices and elective positions. My 6-point agenda are as follows: 1. Education: I will undertake constituency projects in areas of quality education and apprenticeship that will be geared towards improving the human capacity in the Delta South Senatorial District, with a view to preparing the youths for the gritty challenges of the future. 2. Youth Empowerment: I will use the good office of a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to push for adequate funds to build more skill acquisition centers that will develop knowhow in the constituency, thereby, empowering the modestly educated and the less privileged to enhance their economic status and by extension, the overall well being of the constituency. In addition, I will advocate setting up schemes for youths that have acquired adequate skills to easily access soft loans and grants to aid small and medium business start-ups. 3. Health care As a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will embark upon constituency projects that will be aimed at improving the quality of healthcare. I will push for better funding for the health sector in Delta South Senatorial District. 4. Women Empowerment I will push for full domestication of the Millennium Development Goal on gender equality and further support deepening federal government’s efforts on positive gender sensitive policies. Furthermore, I will advocate affirmative action for women, pressing for greater participation of women in public offices and elective positions. 5. Job Creation Job creation is vital to economic emancipation and development, therefore, I will strive to bring about robust federal government presence in Delta South constituency and push to create an enabling environment that would foster private sector investment. These, I believe would generate jobs within the region. 6. Peace Building Peace building will be a priority objective, because safety and security of all are the sure pathways to attract investors.
