Manila Throwdown Day 1 Updates Day One had two events, Event 1 being a speed and bodyweight focused workout(sprints, push ups, burpees, pistols) and Event 2 being a Strongman style workout(sled pulls, rope climbs, farmers carry and atlas stones). How our athletes performed: Dun Yu- Event 1: First round took 1st 2nd took 4th 3rd round smoked the crap out of everyone with pistols and took first! Event 2: Struggled with the Sled which is 160#(heavier than his body weight). Got to farmers walk which is 75# each arm(150# total which is also heavier than his body weight) Forearms were fried from farmers walk and had a tough time with the atlas stones but he got it in! Completed 1 round, fighting every movement and rep! Worthy of spirit of the games. Zu- Event 1: Had a slow start today coming in last in her sprint event and got quite a few no reps for the hand release push ups. Event w: Zu flew out of the gates and smoked everyone in her head taking 1st in her heat, proving that good technique and keeping a calm mind will prevail. A definite redemption from the sprints. Finishing with 1 round + 1 Sled pull (20m) Jess- Event 1: Got 4th for her first sprint and 6th for her 2nd sprint. She just made the cut for the 2nd sprint by diving at the end of the 1st sprint. Event 2: Jess did 1 round and back to the farmers carry. Forearms were pumped up from the first round and when she got back to the rope climbs she kept sliding down. Deciding to toss her gloves she made 2 climbs to 12ft and made the right decision. Making up her points on the 2nd round of farmer carry. JT- Event 1: Sprint event came in 5th and just missed the cut for round 2. Event 2: Came in 4th in his heat. JT smoked the Sled pulls and was first to the rope climbs. Farmers carry proved to be challenge, 2nd set of rope climbs he made 2 attempts at the ropes but kept sliding down. Tossing the gloves, he made 2 accents and managed the farmers carry. Got in a 2nd round of sled pulls easily and back on the ropes with 1 ascend to 18ft. With 30 secs for a 2nd climb to the 12ft mark. Ended the wod with a blistered palm. *** Our athletes will be throwing down again today with 2 chipper workouts and a snatch ladder. updates to come!
