Manipuri News Headline Imphal, June 13, 2013 . The missing bus driver, whose bus was plying on Imphal Jiri road stretch, for the last few day was yesterday recovered by police. The decease driver was Md Asghar Ali 22 son of late Md Itomba of Changamdabi Makha Leikai, Yairipok of Thoubal district. The police recovered the dead body at Kaiphundai of Jiribam Police station and sent the body to Imphal for necessary post mortem examination. . A team of Thoubal Police led by Sub Inspector I Yaiskul Singh yesterday apprehended red-handedly one driver of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) along with two stolen two-wheel vehicles. It was informed that the name of the apprehended IRB driver is Md Waris Khan 23, son of late Md Pishak of Sangai Yumpham Mairen Khul while his driver no is 10D0775, now stationing at 2nd IRB. He was being apprehended from his house after getting reliable information. One Honda Activa bearing registration number MN-01/Z-2644 and Honda Access in red colour (registration not available) was recovered whereas the Honda Activa was changed its colour in black. The police team raided the offender’s house while he was exchanging vehicles parts. . A state police personnel yesterday shot dead his wife with a license gun around 10:50 am at Maram under Senapati district and later surrendered to the Tabudi police later in the evening. According to reliable source, the incident happen today at around 10.50 am when the state police personnel posted at Sapermeina police station identified as Pokeho Mao 40 constable number 844203 shot dead his wife Lokiya 34 with his license gun after a quarrel between the couple. . KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group commander in chief Ningthoujam Romen alias Nongdrenkhomba was released yesterday from Sajiwa Central Jail to join the tripartite peace talk with the Government of Manipur and Government of India. He was received by his family, relatives and cadres of his group who are already in the process of peace talks. He was later taken to an Assam Rifles camp in Churachandpur. . Eight students, who were pronounced failed in the recently declared results of High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC)-2013 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM), were found to have cleared the said exam after their answer scripts were re-checked. Disclosing this to media persons during a press conference at the office of AMSU yesterday, Manjit Sarangthem, Secretary of HRD, AMSU, stated that one Kangleipak Luwang, a student of Kangleipak Modern School, Singda was declared failed in the HSLC exam-2013. When his mark sheet was checked, he was found to have scored 99 marks out of 100 in Mathematics and 91 marks out of 100 in Science, but failed in Social Science secured only six marks out of 100, after re-evaluation it was found that he had actually secured 80 marks in the subject and altogether he had scored 415 marks. He further stated that another eight students who were declared failed also submitted an application for re-checking their answer scripts found passed. Observing that the big blunder made by BSEM could have destroyed the career of the students, the student leader demanded the State Government to take up appropriate actions against BSEM. . Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians Association is all set to file a case against the State government regarding the cancellation of State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) by a resolution of State Cabinet Meeting. A release of the Association said that the parents and guardians of aspiring medical students have urged the Director of State Health Services to give a clarification on the cancellation of PMT, but the officials concerned have remained silent unable to cite proper reasons. The PMT has been cancelled on the basis of a Supreme Court ruling, but the ruling has not been made clear to the public, it added. . The Opposition in Manipur Legislative Assembly today said the Budget Estimate 2013-14 tabled by the Chief Minister in the House is not ‘people-friendly’ but ‘anti-development and anti-poor.’ Participating in the discussion on the Demand for Grants Budget 2013-14 which was presented by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the state assembly on the first day of its session, Opposition leader I Ibohanbi alleged that the budget was against development. He said every policy must be fitted with the budget adding that budget is a master document. Ibohanbi said there is fiscal deficit against revenue surplus and the budget tabled by the Chief Minister does not explain on what to do for the people. “This budget has no major share of the state and at the same time it fails to prove the exact allocations of the rural and the hill,” he pointed out. It would not be satisfied without discussing on how much the cost disability has been decreased even if the Planning Commission releases crores of rupees, he held. The journalist who works with a Churachandpur based daily said that he came wearing the leather slippers as he was not sure whether it can be worn or not as he saw other journalists come wearing slippers. With the concurrence of the competent authority, the Ministry of Power, Government of India has appointed N Shyamsundar Singh as a member of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Manipur and Mizoram, representing Manipur. A double graduate in electrical and civil engineering, Shyamsundar Singh joined the State Electricity Department directly as an Assistant Engineer in 1973 on the recommendation of the MPSC and continued to work there in different capacities till his retirement in February 2008 as Additional Chief Engineer. . A man succumbed to dead yesterday after being found with serious injuries. A three-month old infant was charred to death in a fire that broke out at a house at Phaimol village under Chassad PS in Ukhrul district yesterday. Sources said the fire also completely gutted the residence of one Onlam Haokip (37). Three-month old, Baby Moikim d/o Onlam Haokip was charred by the fire. A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour on the pretext of giving her a lift in his vehicle in Kiphire district of Nagaland yesterday, police sources said. The 25-year-old accused, identified as Taliba Sangtam of Kiphire village, a driver by profession, has been arrested, the sources said. Sangtam offered a ride to the girl, who was returning from school after dropping her little brother, on the pretext of taking her home. He then allegedly took her to the outskirts of Kiphire town and brutally raped her twice, the sources said, adding that a case has been registered.
