Manipuri News Headline Imphal, June 19, 2013 . Two women who were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony were reportedly waylaid and beaten up an unknown miscreant at Bamdiar Tera Makhong yesterday evening. The incident took place at around 7 pm. The two women have been identified as Nandeibam Ongbi Gomti (33), w/o N Rajen and Nandeibam Ongbi Ibemhal (35), w/o N Iboton, both from Nambol Phoijing Tera Makhong. The injured women have been admitted to Nambol Community Health Centre. According to reports culled from the site of the incident, the two women were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony at Malom. When they reached Bamdiar Tera Makhong, an unidentified person coming in a Honda Activa attacked them from behind by using an iron rod. The two women shouted for help. Hearing their cries, locals rush out. But the attacker had sped away in his Honda Activa by then. It was not known why the two women were beaten up. But it is believed that the miscreant may be after the gold ornaments wearing by the two women. . According to data collected from weather stations installed in different parts of the State, maximum average temperature at Imphal recorded 34 degree Celsius at Imphal valley during the past 5 days. Moreh recorded maximum temperature of 39 degree Celsius on June 17 whereas Churachandpur, Thoubal and Bishnupur recorded 34/35 degree Celsius. In addition to this, the rate of smoked fish too has increased and people are finding it difficult even to get a small quantity of smoked fish for Rs 100 or below. Even a quarter of one Kg of dry fish is being sold above Rs 110. Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat preferred widely by the youths of the State has also increased manifold. One kg of chicken (Broiler) is being sold at Rs 250. Kuroiler and other local chickens are sold at Rs 350 per kg. Even the meat of ducks has reached over Rs 300 per kg. However, the rate of pork in the market has come down from its earlier rate and is sold anywhere between Rs 130-150 per kg. Earlier one kg of Pork had reached Rs 200. . Maintaining that newspaper distributors and hawkers in the State have come to face a serious impact after Poknapham and Sangai Express have raised the subscription fee, All Manipur Newspaper Sale’s and Distributor’s Association has appealed to the newspaper subscribers to clear their respecting outstanding bill upto to the month of May so as to enable them to continue doing the service for the people. In a statement, the Association has also informed that there would be no change in the extra carrier charges levied depending upon the distance followed since January 2011.
