However, when it comes to being a Prime Minister, he has not attained much success. The recent row of Politicalscams in India is proof enough to show that his cabinet has suffered widespread corruption. Though, it is not just the scams, but the government’s overall inability to operate that has come under immense scrutiny in the recent past. Following the Commonwealth Games , Adarsh Housing scam and the 2G spectrum scam, the ISRO row hasmade things worse for the rulingCongress party. It is not just the political parties, but even taxpayers who have shown disappointment and anger over the government’s failure to be transparent regarding the scandals. An efficient Comptrollerand Auditor General of India has proved to be of immense trouble to the ruling coalition and definitely exposed a lot of chinks in the government’s Armour. Indian Prime Minister – Dr. Manmohan Singh Kohli The Opposition has not lost any chances of pointing out maladies in the coalition government that has shown weakness and a lack of support from ally parties. Asserting that the government has failed miserably in tackling the recent corruption scandals, the BJP President, Nitin Gadkari, had said, “This UPA government has no will to fight corruption. The media interaction was a cover-up act on corruption”. Demands being made for the scrutiny of all the four corruptionscandals are not unwarranted. It is the taxpayers’ money that has been lost and the Opposition has each and every right to know the details in the most transparent manner. Dr. Manmohan Singh has failed to impress upon anyone regarding the way he has handled the whole situation. Going to the media, to vent your ire is not the way a Prime Minister should act, but the people are the ones he should be answerable to. Had it been for a strong coalition, the government would have taken action on quite a lot of issues by now. As an excuse to the parliament not working properly, the Prime Minister has blamed the Opposition. Though, Dr. Singh has absolutely forgotten that had he announced a Joint Parliamentary Committee to investigate the 2G scam earlier, the legislature would have been functioning in a more efficient manner. The coalition government is in troubled waters, the media and the opposition will not let the guilty go Scott free from this situation. Manmohan Singh administration will have to come out in the public about each and every allegation that has been raised and account for the losses India has suffered. A failure to beopen about the scams will only lead to a stalled parliament and afailed government.
