Manna Dey . . . . The altar grows emptier and emptier . . . . . An irreversible process that got activated the day we were born. Much as we try to convince ourselves of it being only a matter of time at 94, and remind ourselves that he had stopped singing many years ago anyway, there still remains a sorely niggling fact . And the fact, folks, is that at my age, and yours too if you happen to be around the same age as I am, we are not going to be picking up too many new idols from here on in . And those that we have had all our lives, are either going to die on us, or going to fade away one by one. Has it occurred to you too, that this just amounts to a kind of slow death ? With one tiny part of us dying after another with each idol of ours ? A friend here, a parent there, a hero , an artist., a sportsman, a singer,. . . . . people we grew up looking up to, and admiring . There is absolutely nothing that I can do about this, and this helplessness is pissing me right off ! Rest in peace ? Pure pappycock , I say !
