Manners for children..... When I was aged 4 my French Great Grandmother used to place a large encyclopedia on my head and make me walk rounds through the house, without dropping the book. If it fell off of my head I would get whapped with a ruler. She also used to tape forks to the back of my dining chair so that if I leaned back too much or slouched, the prongs would poke into me and hurt. She would also smack my hands if I left them on the table at dinner, they always had to be in my lap. This was just scratching the surface of my manners education.... did anyone else learn manners in such a rigorous way? My great grandmother was very old school. What is your manners horror story? Do people bother to train their children with manners these days?
