Manta Narcosis I remember when I did my first level of scuba - TopicsExpress

Manta Narcosis I remember when I did my first level of scuba diving, my instructor talk to me about the feeling and symptoms of gas narcosis. Some of the possible feelings are: relaxation, excitement, a feeling that everything is ok and nothing else matters. It is relative to each person, but the deeper you go, the bigger the chances of getting it, although in none of the manuals that I have read so far as an Instructor, they talk about the biggest of all narcosis, the manta narcosis. There is something magical about mantas that can make you feel that peace, relaxation, and some times you could get lost in that feeling, like you want to stay with them forever. It is such a strong feeling that to find it, you are willing to get on a boat, ride out from the shore for more that 4 hours, put yourself in the middle of the ocean, with no way to reach for help if needed, waves trying to slow you down, and you know that if one of the motors fail you will end up doing 8 hours back instead of 4. When you go out, you don’t know if you will find them, but when you do, you remember why you went through all that trouble, and again find yourself in those moments of peace, as if everything is ok, as if nothing else matters, in that manta narcosis where you want to stay forever.
