Many act as if they can work for salvation... They are quick to forget that it is God who has fixed them with a new heart, a new mind, a new spirit, and a new nature, they are so quick to forget that it is God who has removed their proneness and inclinations to sin, that it is God who sustains them, that it is God who facilitates within them earnest desires to obey and please him... It almost seems as if these people attribute their victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil to something inherently within themselves, that is apart from God, their flesh... Not giving the glory to God... Not realizing it is HE who does HIS works through them.... Not realizing that if the holy ghost were to depart from them, all those carnal desires, all those worldly lusts, all those tendencies of the old man would come flooding back in an instant and lead them straight back to Babylon, their mind would be overcome with carnality and worldliness... Their mind would be stayed on the profane and not the holy... You can strive for outward holiness until your blue in the face, you can stop fornicating, partying, and living like a heathen by the power of your flesh,but if you havent been inwardly renewed and born again of the spirit of God, your works based formula will get you cast into hell....
