Many are the plans in a mans heart, but it is the Lords purpose that prevails, Pro 19:21 Praying His loving purposes today for: BURUNDI Now a presidential representative democratic republic, the Twa, Tutsi and Hutu peoples have lived in Burundi for at least five hundred years. Early twentieth century, Germany and Belgium occupied the region then known as Ruanda-Urundi. Social differences between the Tutsi and Hutu have since contributed to political unrest in the region, leading to civil war and genocide in the 1990s. Civilians are victims of repeated acts of violence done by the FLN. The latter also recruits child soldiers. The rate of violence against women is high. Perpetrators regularly escape prosecution and punishment by the state. There is an urgent need for reform of the judicial system. One of the five poorest countries in the world, largely due to warfare, corruption, poor access to education and the effects of HIV/AIDs. ... Praise the Lord for the last two elections, which were peaceful, for the president (a believer), a more balanced army comprised of Tutsi and Hutu, and for the over 400,000 refugees that have returned home. Pray for President NKurunziza, for godly wisdom and protection. Pray for a revival to sweep over all the leadership of Burundi, that their hearts will be fully His and their eyes opened to the rampant corruption defiling the land. Pray also for true and deep reconciliation between all the peoples of this land, led by Holy Spirit revival into common purpose and love.
