Many athletes spend countless hours working out... lifting - TopicsExpress

Many athletes spend countless hours working out... lifting weights, stretching, doing agility training to become better at their sport. Even business people now hire coaches and mentors to teach them better more efficient ways to perform their job. Both pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars to others in an effort to identify and overcome the weaknesses that hold them back from top performance. We do the same thing in our everyday life. If we have problems we go to friends, relatives, psychiatrists, even self help books to help us overcome whatever is bothering us. People will spend countless hours in bars, coffee shops or on the phone with others pouring out their problems and looking for some kind of help. But ultimately other people are only able to understand what you tell them about your problem... and there will always be things that you just cant convey to them in a way that they can actually make a difference. Those deepest, most innermost things that only you know about yourself and may not want to share. Yet, those are the very things that may hold the key to your problem. So heres the question. If other people are not capable of actually understanding you at your very core, incapable of truly seeing your problem the way that you do, how will they ever be able to give you a real solution? The good news is that there is one who does know you as well as you know yourself. Psalm 139:13 says, For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. Why would we waste time looking to everything and everyone else... things that dont truly know us, when we can go directly to Him who knows our innermost being? When you read the Bible not only do you come to know the book but you will ultimately find that it is a book that already knows you. Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” (John 15:7) God is the answer to your problem and he is waiting to help you. Next time you are looking for help, start with Him first and He will give you the strength and put the people and things in your path that will help you overcome whatever issue you are dealing with. It all starts by getting on your knees and asking him into your life. Today if you hear Gods call, do not harden your heart. (As a follow up to last week we can praise God that Brittany Maynard, the woman who was going to kill herself on Nov. 1st has changed her mind and at this point has put off that decision. Please continue to pray for her. God is working in her life!)
