Many city workers do earn less than the private sector. Of course - TopicsExpress

Many city workers do earn less than the private sector. Of course NOT public safety like police and fire. AND they DO NOT get social security. So that has to be taken into account. Its not an across the board problem. My husband took a huge pay cut in exchange for the Cities benefits and regular working hours. He did it for his family. My husband worked in a maintenance position that paid half of the hourly amount he would have made in the private sector. He was willing to make less to be home for dinner with the kids. But I have no patience for those making some of the huge pensions whining and complaining about needing more so they can retire early. And dont tell me firemen tear up their poor bodies and cant work until they get old. Ask the guys in Maintenance how torn up their bodies are.
