Many commentators have given the president the benefit of the doubt and assumed that what he meant was that mothers shouldn’t be obliged to choose between staying home with their children and earning higher wages. Well, out here in reality land, they always will be. Life requires choices to be made. Which cut of overpriced meat youre going to buy and how you can best make it stretch, for instance. Enabling women to stay home and raise their own children instead of advocating their children be essentially turned into wards of the state on my behalf would be a bit more helpful. Lower their energy bills, their grocery prices, their rent. Dont start recruiting three and four year olds to fluff up the ranks of the teachers unions and increase the burden on the moms and dads paying their wage. Lighten the load. And dont *even think* about talking to me about programming when you and the rest of the wingnuts are banning tshirts with flags and expelling five year olds for finger guns while our college grads are living in their moms basement, youre out there nattering on about raising the minimum wage and trying to figure out how to attract more foreign students to STEM jobs. Really? KMA, Obama. Knob.
