Many countries experienced street protests. The common thread running through them all is more or less the same. Income gap, unemployment, high tax, social injustice, education, lay-offs, inflation. corruption, personal freedom, etc. make the list. Other countries are uneventful in the sense that street protests are non-existent. It is business as usual. People go on with the normal life. It lacks the tensions which keep them on their toes, alert and more resourceful. Peace, order and pleasant living environments are what people want. So do the governmenmt. Conflicts would be a stumbling block to hurdle. Problems are recurrent to be resolved by people individually or government at the national level to stand themselves in good steads.
