Many have asked me what I do to prevent colds/flu - heres an excerpt from my book: Word to the wise, keep your immune system up and youll never have to worry about getting sick... depression, stress, anxiety and such can all weaken your immune response so if you can keep your spirits up - even if times are tough - youll stay healthy. Now, heres my list of various natural cures that have worked for me: Herbal Magic Juice - all natural. Made by Magic Juice Inc. Edgewater FL (Sunseed Food Co-op sells it in Melbourne, FL but since its more of a local product I am not sure how widely it is distributed. It contains: Apple cider vinegar, horseradish, ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper and onions. And it kicks butt!) NOTE: While on vacation 7/17/10 we found another similar herbal and ACV concoction being sold at health food stores there... so apparently these are being made in various regional areas with different ingredients. Try any of them and let me know if one works better than another for you. NOTE: If you dont get relief in a day or two try taking a capful every hour. That, AND gargling with a mix of warm water, 1 t of cayenne and 1 t of turmeric, with pinch of salt, may do the trick! Sambucus liquid. Virologis tested. Year - round defense. Bio-certified. Made by Natures Way - it is Elderberry, Echinacea, zinc, propolis and vitamin C. Oscillo. Take at first sign of flu. Contains anas barbariae hepatis et. Oreganol. Either the liquid drops or capsules. Echinacea and Astragalus - combined in a tincture. I have also taken Astragalus in a capsule when people around me at work are coughing and sneezing. I never picked up their bug. Tablespoon of Grapeseed oil mixed with few drops of Olive Leaf Extract helps too! Olive Leaf Extract has a whole host of websites with claims and research so check it out. Its anti-viral, anti-bacterial, etc and all around an excellent product to keep on hand. Vitamin D supplement and some full sun exposure (without sunscreen) about 15-20 minutes a day. Ive successfully used garlic capsules (and no they dont make your body or breath smell of garlic) for congestion, both chest and sinus congestion. Garlic clears mucus. My nutritionist recommended 2 or 3 capsules every 4 hours until symptoms subside. At most Ive only taken 3 capsules at night before bed to breath easier while sleeping. Ive never used a neti pot (to clear sinus of congestion) but Ive read and have heard that using those do help people who have allergies or sinus problems. If you see a medical doctore ENSURE they do a blood test before they tell you the words... Swine Flu. I always recommend second (or third) opinions depending upon the ailment because tests have been wrong, or the interpretations of the tests have been wrong. I suggest to see an acupuncture doctor, naturopath, or other holistic type of practitioner along with a medical doctor - have them review all of your tests to ensure nothing is overlooked.
