Many have asked what I teach. I am an IND High School teacher at an Exceptional Center. IND or Intellectual and Neurotic Disorders, students with an IQ below 70, (usually means brain damage of some sort) My students have been diagnosed with a Axis 1 diagnosis, meaning, permanently disabled for the rest of their lives. Many of my students have legal records, 4 of them are felons. My classes are their last chance to get their behavior and grades under control to either transfer and graduate from a regular high school OR graduate from the Center with a Special Diploma. These kids will usually support their disability checks with part time work, whatever they can handle. I try to prepare them for the nasty world of people that have little to no understanding of their predicament, and try to find a way to enjoy their lives and feel productive and contribute to society in some way, AND, hopefully find a bit of happiness along the way. Dont judge, be helpful and happy!! Its not your world, its Gods world. Be kind, forgive, and give unto others, for some day you might need those to give back to you!
