Many have used the passage below to promote female pastoral leadership in the Body of Christ, and to remove gender distinctions in the church. When interpreting thiMany have used the passage below to promote female pastoral leadership and usurping male authority in the Body of Christ, as well as removing gender distinctions in the church. When interpreting this Scripture correctly we must not impose our presuppositions and worldviews upon the text, but must interpret Scripture with the whole of Scripture, line upon line and precept upon precept, since Scripture alone (not commentaries on the Bible) is inerrant and we have no other inerrant and inspired revelation from God, other than the special revelation God Himself has given us in the Holy Bible: Galatians 3: …27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abrahams descendants, heirs according to promise. When rightly dividing this passage, we must also review the qualifications of an elder and deacon in the church (1 Timothy 3:1-18 as well as Titus 1:5-9 and Acts 6:2). We must also understand that this passage in Galatians 3 in context is salvific, or pertaining to salvation, which the phrase In Christ indicates. When speaking of the church or ecclesia the writer ALWAYS makes the distinction, e.g. in the church. Confusing, blurring and failing to teach this doctrine of the church leads to rebellion in the church and home. Which is why Revelation, in preparing us for the end times, calls out that Jezebel, whom we are to oppose with the Sword of the Spirit. To hold sound doctrine is not to be unloving to women, but rather is to support encourage and uphold all God has for them as He and the church delights in His creation when it is fulfilling its designed intention, both male and female, Jew and Gentile, in obedience to Christ Jesus.
