Many heartfelt thanks for the birthday wishes this year. I see 45 as another turning point for Ol Mackel. I enjoy turning over new leaves and starting completely over every decade or so. I want to take a totally different path in the coming year; do something Ive never done before or something Ive been putting off for a long time. Whatever it is, I have to hurry because nothing good happens after 50 and Id like to live at least a small portion of my life debt free. As much as I enjoy looking backwards with arcade machines and fond memories of better times, I suddenly realize the need to prepare for the inevitable obstacles in the road ahead. Ill continue to try to work smart and not hard; keep friends and family close and enemies more distant; and try even harder to ignore this worlds rapid decline into anarchy as the ethics, morals and values I was raised with fade, like myself, into antiquity. By the time its all over, I just want to be able to relish in the fact that I succeeded in doing things MY way. Ol Mackels headed out to the shop now. Music blaring, heater on, arcade machines humming, and Lissa by my side. My own little paradise--for now...
