Many hotels have doors and locks that are simple to defeat by criminals with limited knowledge using simple techniques. Make sure you still take security and personal safety seriously, even when you are traveling. This is often when you need to be the most alert. The Ritz-Carlton, the lawsuit says, failed to take appropriate measures to ensure its rooms were not used to commit crimes. It also failed to train its employees to prevent or recognize the harm done to the woman, according to the lawsuit. This, the lawsuit says, means the hotel was negligent, and failed to operate the premises in a reasonably safe condition, including by failing to install appropriate security devices.
