Many kids had a snow day today and undoubtedly some hit a local sledding hill. But some cities in the U.S., like Dubuque, Iowa, are actually banning or limiting sledding due to liability claims. In Dubuque, the city council is banning #sledding in all but two of the citys 50 parts. According to the Center for Injury Research and Policy, more than 20,000 children landed in the ER with sledding injuries between 1997 and 2007. In several cases, parents have sued when a child is injured hitting a sign or tree -- and won millions from cities. Some say closing parks goes too far and parents should keep better watch.
