Many many emotions surging through the hearts of those effected by this decision not to indict the officer involved in the tragic death of Eric Garner. Officer Daniel Pantaleo insisted Wednesday it was “never my intention to harm anyone.” I believe that to be true, regardless of the outcome, I dont believe he set out that day to kill anyone. Pantaleo was also quoted as saying, (paraphrasing) that he followed his training in restraining Garner. Pantaleo is no stranger to Civilian Complaint . He was the subject of allegations he strip-searched two men in public and slapped their genitals. Also, as we all know by now, the incident is directly related to a choke-hold on Garner, executed by Pantaleo. Yet, Choke holds are not part of regulations, or technique and in fact, are pretty much outlawed as a method of restraint. So following training as he sated is not a true statement. I would love to be non-bias on this, as I try to stay on the fence with many issues that effect the collective majority. But this is a clear case of a system that is flawed, and a free pass to law enforcement to do what they want without fear of prosecution. Watch this video of footage that I took the evening of the verdict. The people are angered, and for good reason. They are restraining themselves from violence, and even policing each other. The police, while set up with barricades and out in force, were very low key and did not show intimidation. For now, this outcry is civil. Arrests were made last night for civil disorder, and as I stated in a conversation the other day, This is just the beginning. Pray that this does not grow into something that leads to more hurt and more fear. youtu.be/iB_rXxfZfS0
